contact when communicating with foreign people by first and second year Master students in
Applied Language, Department of English Arts and Language, University 1 of Constantine.
Research data were gathered through a questionnaire to check the hypothesis which is: if these
students are aware of eye contact diversity across cultures and its rules then, on the one hand,
they will have effective and successful conversations with people from other cultures and, on the
other hand, they will improve their knowledge and avoid embarrassing situations. The obtained
results show that most students are unaware of the importance of eye contact. They also lack

translating cultural elements or expressions. It aims to investigate the students’ awareness of
these problems and the strategies suggested to solve them. The data is collected by means of a
questionnaire and a test in which the students have been asked to translate some Arabic as
well as English sentences that contain cultural terms in order to check the validity of our
hypothesis. The research hypothesis explores whether EFL students are aware of the
integration of culture when they convert cultural specific expressions or not .The results
obtained revealed that First Year Master students of English fail to convert culture-specific
expressions properly as they are not aware of culture as a significant factor in translation.
Eventually, some pedagogical recommendations are given to promote the students’ ability in

concentration, practice, determination and considerable effort from the learner’s part. Due to
its complexity, learners are faced with many challenges in using and mastering the aspects of
language appropriately. In this research study, we aim to tackle learner’s reluctance to write
through dealing with writing as a progressive process which entails different stages that
learners wave recursively through. Moreover, enhancing learner’s motivation to write requires
dealing with it as a creative activity aiming to convey and communicate a meaningful
message, rather than a product of accurate use of vocabulary and grammar. Hence,
emphasizing the Process Approach will reflect writing as a progressive process which
stimulates learner’s motivation to invest more time practicing, and will foster their interest in
developing that crucial skill. It is by the means of two questionnaires devised to both 12
teachers, and 30 students of third year English from the Department of Letters and English
Language at Constantine 1 University that we tested our hypothesis. The findings gathered in
this study supported and confirmed the set hypothesis, in that enhancing learners motivation
to write through raising learners awareness of writing as a process will reduce the problems
and difficulties encountered by students when they write and promote a better understanding

Frères Mentouri”, Constantine, are aware of the right use of phrasal verbs. It is by the means
of two questionnaires administered to both teachers and Second Year students of English that
we investigated our hypothesis that is “if students are aware of the right use of phrasal verbs,
they would be competent in the English language, and thus would use a large amount of them
in their productions”. The results obtained from both questionnaires have shown that Second
Year students of English are not aware of the right use of phrasal verbs, they do use these
language features in their productions, but rarely and in an incorrect way. That is to say
phrasal verbs are proved to be very difficult to learn and require a particular attention and
focus in order to be mastered by the students which will contribute to make them competent
