Its complications constitute a public health problem.
It needs drugs, food diet and medical monitoring.
Now day, in therapeutically field, in addition to conventional treatment (insulin and oral hypoglycaeming
agents) use medicinal plants as complementary treatment as well as treatment in low glycemia.
Therefore phytotherapy constitutes a good alternative or at least as a complement to classical drugs.
In popular medicine, a lot of plants -among them, the Centaurium erythreae - are used in diabetic
treatment.
The first part of this work treats literature review on diabetes, phytotherapy and Centaurium erythreae L.
The second part consists of an experimental work that contains:
- Inquiries on the use of medicinal plants in our regions (east, south-east and Algiers region); 39 species
belonging to 24 families are noted.
- A chemical experiment of the flowering stems of the plant Erythreae centaurium L. has been done;
several products were identified( flavonoids, alkaloids, steroids and tannins...).
- An experimental work on normoglycemic rats and rats submitted to hyperglycemia by oral means by
overcharge of glucose, by gavage of aqueous and butanolic extract of the Common Centaury. After
kinetic study of glycaemia between tB0 Band tB180 Bminutes by glycometery and spectrophotometer shows an
important decrease of blood glucose rates.
The hypoglycemic action of aqueous and butanolic extract was compared to that obtained
rats with hypoglycemic agent (Glibenclamide (DCI) Daonil ® (ND)
This shows the existence hypoglycemic action of Common Centaury.
- The monitoring of rats, during fifteen days after hyperglycemia shows secondary effects of aquous and
butanolic extracts of Common Centaury on liver and kidney rats’.Diplôme : Doctorat En ligne : ../theses/veterinaire/BEN5276.pdf Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=1871 Effets biologiques de la petite centaurée Erythraea centaurium (L.) Biologie Résumé :
Parkinson's disease (PD) is a chronic neurodegenerative disorder that develops in a slowly progressive manner with no identifiable cause. The aim of this investigation is the study of the biological potential of the n-BuOH and EtOAc fractions extracted from the plant Centaurea africana and elucidate the modulatory effect of the n-BuOH extract in rats (Wistar Albinos) treated with rotenone. In vitro studies (DPPH°, reducing power of iron, inhibition of LPO) have shown that C. africana is endowed with antioxidant properties. Anti-inflammatory studies have shown that nBuOH extract has this effect which is resulting in the inhibition of paw edema induced by carrageenan in rats and decreased activity of MPO and MDA levels in paw tissues. In vivo studies have investigated the modulatory effect of n-BuOH extract of C. africana (200 mg/kg) against biochemical, neurochemical, histopathological and behavioural alterations induced by rotenone (1 mg/kg; ip) in rats. Rotenone causes behavioral and motor deficits and also activates neuroinflammation. The mitochondrial dysfunction induced by ROT is expressed by the decrease in
the activity of complex I of the mitochondrial respiratory chain and by the alteration of the oxidant/antioxidant status of the brain, which activates the intrinsic apoptotic pathway. This study revealed that the n-BuOH extract acts by several mechanisms: neutralization of oxidative stress, modulation of markers of apoptosis (Bcl-2, Bax and caspase 3) and neurochemical markers (dopamine and glutamate), and reduction of neuroinflammation which results in decreased MPO activity and lower levels of NO and TNF. The antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of this
plant are probably explained by its richness in polyphenols and flavonoids, which have been revealed by phytochemical screening and LC-MS/MS analysis, and/or by the synergistic interactions of the isolated phenolics.

Dysfonctionnement mitochondrial Dysfonctionnement lysosomal Stress oxydant Index. décimale : 570 Sciences de la vie. Biologie Résumé : This investigation is interested to study the modulator effect of Linaria tingitana in rats
treated by the valproic acid (VPA). The in vitro studies (DPPH◦, FRAP, β-carotene, Chelation, NO◦) showed that Linaria tingitana is endowed with an antioxidant property. The antiinflammatory studies (albumin denaturation, HRBC, NO scavenger, oedema and peritonitis led
by the carrageenan, the rise of MPO and the infiltration of the PN) confirmed that Linaria
tingitana has a beneficial effect in this sense. The in vivo studies made to rats handled by the
VPA revealed that the n-BuOH extract acts by a multitude of mechanisms: conservation of the
hepatic function, the modulation of the steatoses, the neutralization of the oxidative stress and
the reduction of the inflammation hepatocyte elucidated by the decrease of the activity MPO.
Antirrhides molecules isolated of this plant were ineffective at the level of the cell line HepG2
treated with the VPA. The mitochondrial dysfunction led by the VPA is expressed by the decrease of the RCR accompanied by a decrease of the activity of the complex I. The n-BuOH
extract as well as the isolated molecules managed to reduce the mitochondrial H2O2 and to modulate the antioxidant mitochondrial and lysosomal systems. The conservation of the integrity
lysosomal membrane was more pronounced by the n-BuOH extract compared to the vitamin
E. The various modulator ways of L. tingitana delayed the appearance of the complications
linked to the mitochondrial dysfunction, lysosomal, such necrosis. Probably this is due to the
diversified wealth of this plant in term of polyphenols and irridoids revealed by phytochemical
screening and the analysis of the LC-MS and in the synergetic effect of the molecules that it
contains. Our ethnopharmacological survey among 104 herbalists and traditional healers spread over 47 municipalities belonging to 19 provinces of the country, revealed the richness of Algerian traditional pharmacopoeia with burn treating products. A total of 74 natural products were identified.
Ranking these products by calculating their Relative Popularity Level (RPL) revealed that the fixed oil extracted from the fruits of mastic tree (Pistacia lentiscus L.) is the most used natural product for burn treatment.
Furthermore, unlike the majority of Mediterranean pharmacopeia, this oil is the most used product of Pistacia lentiscus in Algeria, surpassing the use of leaves, resin and essential oils.
Our survey concerning the therapeutic uses of this oil revealed its use for 50 various therapeutic indications. Ranking these indications by calculating their Fidelity Level (FL) revealed that the treatment of skin and respiratory problems are the two major indications of Pistacia lentiscus fixed oil in Algeria.
The healing effect of this oil, used alone or mixed with beeswax (v/v) was evaluated for the treatment of experimental burns in rats. The healing process was evaluated by digital planimetry and histological examination of burned skin samples.
Mastic fixed oil used alone or in combination with beeswax, showed significantly better results (p˂0,05) than conventional treatment with silver sulfadiazine 1%. This healing effect resulted in an acceleration of wound contraction and a reduction of epithelialization time.
Histological observations corroborate with the clinical and planimetric findings.
No Synergistic or antagonistic effects were found between mastic oil and beeswax.
The in vitro investigation of the antibacterial effect of this oil on four bacterial strains (Staphylococcus aureus ; Enterococcus faecalis ; Escherichia coli ; Pseudomonas aeruginosa) showed no significant antibacterial effect. Hence the need to undertake further studies to identify the mechanisms responsible for the healing effect of this oil and the bioactive compounds behind it.Diplôme : Doctorat en sciences En ligne : ../theses/veterinaire/ABD6908.pdf Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=10243 Effets cicatrisants de produits à base d’huile de lentisque (Pistacia lentiscus L.) sur les brûlures expérimentales chez le rat [texte imprimé] / Mohamad Cherif Abdeldjelil, Auteur ; Abdellatif Bensegueni, Directeur de thèse . - جامعة الإخوة منتوري قسنطينة, 2016 . - 191 f. ; 30 cm.

Teucrium polium L. is a medicinal plant widely used in Algeria to treat a variety of human pathology. An ethnobotanical survey was conducted during the period from June 2011 to December 2012, among 269 people who use medicinal plants (villagers and herbalists) through 18 willayas in eastern Algeria on the traditional use of Teucrium polium L and ethnobotanical indices were calculated. The results of the ethnobotanical survey revealed the importance of the practice of phytotherapy by the population of the investigated region and helped to contribute to the transformation of popular knowledge from oral to written through the establishment of the monograph of Teucrium polium L. Moreover dosage and dosage seems to be very poorly controlled by our traditional healers which could be dangerous for the health of consumers. The evaluation of the acute toxicity of the aqueous extract of Teucrium polium L. after 14 days of treatment in rats was carried out and the value of the LD50 was estimated by two methods of calculation. The acute toxicological study estimated the LD 50 of this plant to more than 3000 mg / kg which places it in the class 4 of toxicity therefore ""slightly toxic"". In the subchronic oral toxicity study, administration of 800 mg / kg, 1600 mg / kg and 2500 mg / kg / day of the aqueous extract demonstrated that it acts negatively on the growth of the treated and treated rats. disrupts some hematological and biochemical parameters related to liver function (transaminases), renal in the different lots treated.
