It can stimulate as well as hinder somebody‟s own will in learning. Then, the present dissertation‟s main endeavor was to investigate the impact of motivation on the development of autonomous learning. The secondary purposes of the research were to identify cognitive and psychological factors which differentiate learners‟ own motivation, and secondly exploring the influence of these motivational factors on promoting learners‟ autonomy. In order to carry out our study we hypothesized that « if students‟ motivation is held aroused, this will eventually lead to successful autonomous learners ». To reach our objectives a students‟ questionnaire was designed. The students involved were randomly chosen among third year (LMD) students of English as a foreign language (Language Sciences) at the University of Mentouri Constantine. The analysis of the questionnaire revealed that the learners were both intrinsically and extrinsically motivated towards their language learning, as a result of this latter the learners proved to be autonomous ones. Thus, autonomy in EFL classrooms especially in our university is a crucial goal that would not be realized unless learners were motivated towards their language learning. Indeed, extrinsic incentives mainly on the part of their teachers are considered important for fostering their autonomous learning increasingly. Therefore, the lack of motivation is considered as one of the basic problems that EFL learners encounter while communicating. The present work attempts to investigate the role of extrinsic motivation to improve learners’ reading performance. The present research work is a case study of second year LMD English students in the department of English at Mentouri University. Data collection was done two instruments of research: a students’ questionnaire and reading test. In order to investigate the influence of some external motivators on students’ reading achievement. The results obtained from the data collected allowed us to know about how much students are aware about the importance of foreign language reading, what affects it and the significant role of the extrinsic motivation on developing students’ reading performance. Format : 30 cm. Note générale : Une copie électronique PDF disponible en BUC. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Language Sciences Enhance Students Motivation Speaking Class. Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : This dissertation, a total of two chapters, is entitled: “Attitudes towards methods used to enhance students‟ motivation in the speaking class”. The main problem that we found in teaching and learning speaking is that learners are not motivated to perform better orally; their performance is, in general very unsatisfactory. This problem may due to the methods chosen by teachers in teaching the speaking skill. As such, the aim of the present research is to investigate the attitudes of students towards the methods used by their teachers to enhance their motivation. Furthermore, this study attempts to find out whether teachers are themselves satisfied with the methods they use to motivate their students or not. Eventually, this study aims at suggesting to teachers some methods, language activities and techniques that may serve for the creation of free atmosphere, which in turn, serves for motivating students to develop their oral skills. It is by means of two questionnaires administered to both oral expression teachers and third year L.M.D students, at the department of English (university of Constantine one) that the following hypothesis has been investigated: if teachers apply the right teaching method, students would enhance their motivation and perform better in speaking. The results obtained show that students have negative attitudes towards the methods used by their teachers. Yet; teachers seem to be satisfied with the methods they use in their class. Titre : Effects of oral feedback on students’ motivation for learning english : A case study of second year students of bardo secondary school in mila Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Rokia Bouizar, Auteur ; Abdelhak Nemouchi, Directeur de thèse Editeur : CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine Année de publication : 2011 Importance : 95 f. Format : 30 cm. Note générale : Une copie électronique PDF disponible en BUC. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Language Sciences Oral Feedback Motivation Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : The present study is composed of two chapters. The first one is a literature review related
to the effects of verbal feedback on students’ motivation. The second is a practical one
devoted to the elicited data. The study aims at finding out whether verbal feedback affects
students’ motivation to learn English. Besides, it aims at probing the extent to which
teachers are aware of the possible effects that verbal feedback may have on students’
feelings and their motivation. We hypothesize that when teachers provide students with
appropriate feedback about their performance, students’ motivation to learn would
increase. In order to test the validity of the hypothesis, two questionnaires are carried out.
One is filled in by thirty second year students of lycée of Bardo, and the other by ten
teachers of lycées of Bardo, Arres, and Baynan in Mila. The data allowed us to evaluate
the significant importance of oral feedback on students’ affective sides as well as their
motivation. Furthermore, the questionnaire designed to teachers allowed us to gauge the
degree of teachers’ awareness on the issueDiplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=6626 Effects of oral feedback on students’ motivation for learning english : A case study of second year students of bardo secondary school in mila [texte imprimé] / Rokia Bouizar, Auteur ; Abdelhak Nemouchi, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2011 . - 95 f. ; 30 cm.
