Format : 30 cm. Note générale : Une copie électronique PDF disponible en BUC. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Language Sciences Guessing Context Strategy Learning Vocabulary Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : Learning vocabulary is an essential task when learning a foreign language.
However, most learners seem to experience many difficulties in learning vocabulary. The
present study aims at investigating the actual use of one vocabulary strategy which is
‘guessing from context’ among first-year LMD students at Mila University. It is
hypothesized that if first-year students make use of guessing from context strategy they
would improve their ability of inferring the meaning of the unknown words. To test our
hypothesis, we administered a questionnaire of 20 questions to 30 participants of first year
students and a test which is given to the same students to investigate their actual use of
‘guessing from context strategy’. The results reveal that students use the ‘guessing from
context strategy’ to learn new vocabulary. Moreover, students improve their vocabulary
comprehension when they are confronted with vocabulary in context rather than words in
isolation. However, there is an unawareness of some contextual clues which should be
known to them.Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=5496 The effects of guessing from context strategy on learning vocabulary : The case of first year lmd students [texte imprimé] / Hamida Nouichi, Auteur ; Ahmed Moumene, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2011 . - 83 f. ; 30 cm.

Titre : The Effects of Intensive Connected Speech Training on the Enhancement of Listening Comprehension : A Case Study of Second Year Students at the English Department , Oum El Bouaghi University Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Soualhi Abderrahim, Auteur ; Ahmed Moumene, Directeur de thèse Editeur : CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : UNIVERSITE DES FRERES MENTOURI Année de publication : 2014 Importance : 89.f Format : 30cm. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Langue Anglaise Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : The present study investigates the effects of intensive connected speech training on the
enhancement of L2 listening comprehension. A quasi-experimental design study was
conducted at the English Department of Larbi Ben M’Hidi University in order to examine the
effects of intensive connected speech instruction on promoting students’ listening
comprehension. One English instructor taught the experimental group and the control group
in which forty students were involved. A test was administered as a pre- and post-tests to
probe the learners’ performance on listening comprehension before and after the treatment
applied to the control and experimental groups. The pre-test was administered and revealed no
statistical significant differences between the two groups’ performance. After that, the
treatment started and finished within three weeks. Learners of the experimental group were
introduced to the aspects of connected speech, namely assimilation, elision, linking sounds,
contractions and weak forms. Learners of the control group continued their regular class
instruction following the course-book. The findings show that the experimental group’s level
of listening comprehension significantly improved, but the control group’s level of listening
comprehension slightly improved; however statistically, this improvement is not significant in
comparison to the impressive improvement recorded in the experimental group. The
significant positive effect of intensive connected speech training has been proven by many
statistical devices that showed some consistent results such as the mean, variance, standard
deviation and all the procedures for carrying out the paired sample t-test which are the
suitable statistical procedures since we compare the performance of two groups. In light of the
obtained results, we conclude that intensive connected speech training has a significant
positive effect on enhancing L2 listening comprehension, because it makes students quite
aware of the aspects of connected speech such as assimilation, elision; weak forms, linking
and intrusion in order to comprehend natural spoken discourses.Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=1329 The Effects of Intensive Connected Speech Training on the Enhancement of Listening Comprehension : A Case Study of Second Year Students at the English Department , Oum El Bouaghi University [texte imprimé] / Soualhi Abderrahim, Auteur ; Ahmed Moumene, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : UNIVERSITE DES FRERES MENTOURI, 2014 . - 89.f ; 30cm.

Titre : The Iifluence of communicative grammar on enhancing students' writing : A case study of second year LMD students of english in Mentouri University Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Ilham BECHKIT, Auteur ; Ahmed Moumene, Directeur de thèse Editeur : CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine Année de publication : 2012 Importance : 70 f. Format : 30 cm. Note générale : Une copie électronique PDF disponible en BUC Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Language Sciences Influence Grammar Enhancing Students' Writing Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : This research is an attempt to investigate the influence of teaching grammar through
communication (games) on improving students’ writing. It aims at investigating whether
students prefer the traditional method of learning grammar (giving rules and then doing
simple activities) or it is better when they are getting involved by playing games and
doing tasks. It also aims to get information about the importance given to grammar by
learners and by teachers in writing, and their preferences of the way they learn/teach
grammar (through games or through activities). To confirm our hypothesis, two
questionnaires were submitted to a sample of fifty second year LMD students (from the
total of 933) and a group of twelve grammar teachers at the Foreign Languages
Department, Mentouri University of Constantine, to check the validity of the hypothesis
that if students were taught grammatical structures through the communicative method,
they would improve their writing significantly. The results from the analysis of both
questionnaires revealed that both teachers and students are aware of the importance
role of grammar in developing students’ writing (clarity in expressing ideas, achieving
accuracy) and that a grammar course will be more challenging and interesting when
students play games, move in the class, participating and doing tasks.Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=3838 The Iifluence of communicative grammar on enhancing students' writing : A case study of second year LMD students of english in Mentouri University [texte imprimé] / Ilham BECHKIT, Auteur ; Ahmed Moumene, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2012 . - 70 f. ; 30 cm.

Titre : The Impact of anxiety on students’ speaking skill Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Chafiqa Bachouche, Auteur ; Ahmed Moumene, Directeur de thèse Editeur : CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine Année de publication : 2013 Importance : 142 f. Format : 30 cm. Note générale : Une copie électronique PDF disponible en Bus Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Language Sciences Impact Anxiety Students Speaking Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : In learning a foreign or a second language, first-year students experience anxiety which
inhibits seriously their learning and performance. The present study aims to explore the
impact of anxiety on students’ speaking skill. It is mainly concerned with trying to reduce
students’ anxiety to maximize their oral production. It also attempts to shed some light on
the importance of establishing a relaxed and friendly environment in the classroom to help
learners use the language spontaneously. The basic hypothesis adopted in this study sets
out that if teachers succeed in lowering students’ anxiety and stress, they will able to
engage them in communication and classroom interaction. The method of this research
work is quite descriptive. It aims to describe two variables: anxiety in learning as an
organizing variable and its negative impact on learners’ oral proficiency as a dependent
variable. The data were gathered through two self-completed questionnaires administrated
to first-year university students and to teachers who have taught Oral Expression at the
Department of English, University of Constantine 1. The results have shown that lowering
anxiety is the right way to increase learners’ language use and classroom participation. On
the basis of these results, the hypothesis was confirmed in that teachers should reduce
students’ anxiety by providing them with adequate techniques to develop their speaking
skill and make them use the language without hesitation. Future research should be done
experimentally to test out the applicability of the findings to a larger population of
subjects.Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=3650 The Impact of anxiety on students’ speaking skill [texte imprimé] / Chafiqa Bachouche, Auteur ; Ahmed Moumene, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2013 . - 142 f. ; 30 cm.

Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Language Sciences Authentic Audiovisual Students’ Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : In spite of its importance, listening comprehension has received slight interest in language
instruction. Most learners seek to imitate native speakers talk; one way to provide real life
language listening practice is to implement authentic audiovisual materials as a means to improve
students’ listening comprehension. The fundamental purpose of this study is to present an
investigation designed to provide a concrete picture of the effectiveness of applying audiovisual
materials presenting the speakers’ non-verbal behaviors, and the inclusion of authenticity as an
important aspect in the selected materials to improve the students’ listening comprehension
proficiency. The investigation tools used in this research are a questionnaire and a test; both of
them were administered to third year LMD students to get a genuine information about the
subject under study. The educational settings in which this study took place is the Foreign
Language Department, Constantine University 1. After carrying out the research for checking the
students’ listening comprehension and the effect of authentic audiovisual materials in improving
